National Roundtable on Interlibrary Loan

National Roundtable on „Present state and future perspectives of interlibrary loan in Bulgaria. International practices and instruments“ was held on 14-15 October 2010 in Veliko Tаrnovo.
The forum was attended by 80 participants from libraries and partner organisations. Professionals from different types of libraries – regional, academic, special, big and small-sized public libraries initated an useful discussion about the urgent need for up-to-date, organized interlibrary loan and documents delivery service in Bulgarian libraries.

BLIA supports the Copyright for Creativity
BLIA
BLIA joined the Copyright for Creativity Declaration (https://www.copyright4creativity.eu/bin/view/Main/Declarationreleased in May 2010 by various stakeholders throughout Europe, incl. library organizations like IFLA, EBLIDA, eiFL, etc.
The Declaration calls for a clear policy agenda to improve the European copyright framework: it means a flexible regime for copyight exceptions and limitations that best supports creation, innovation, competition, and the public interest. Translation in Bulgarian is provided for the library community in Bulgaria.

Ms. Roberta Stevens attended the National Library Week in Sofia

BLIAThe National Library Week in Bulgaria was attended by the American Library Association President-elect, Ms. Roberta Stevens. As an honored event guest, Ms. Stevens presented her lecture on the challenges faced by libraries and librarian leaders in the 21st century.
Her main argument line was, "Libraries are needed now more than ever". Ms. Stevens supported her statement with a number of  relevant facts and data on the crucial role currently played by American libraries in career and personal skills building and development. The lecturer also outlined the main leadership challenges that the 21st century presents before the libraries.
